7 Day Cabbage Soup Diet Plan

Don’t worry – Not all of those cabbages go in the soup!!

Remember: The Cabbage Soup Diet is not a long-term program.  It is a Seven Day Diet only, meant to help you lose up to ten pounds in a week.  This should encourage you and is meant to be a jump start in your weight loss as you move into a long-term, more sustainable program.

Here is how to make the most of your week.  Stick to the following instructions each day.

Follow This Plan:

Day One:

Today, eat mostly fruit and soup.  Aim for 3 to 4 bowls of soup today.  Drink at least 8 glasses of water.  You can also drink black coffee, unsweetened tea, and unsweetened cranberry juice.  Do not eat bananas today.

Day Two:

On this day, you will eat only vegetables and soup.  You should eat at least 3 bowls of soup and raw or cooked veggies.  Stay away from starchy beans, peas, and corn.  Stuff yourself full of vegetables – do not let yourself get hungry.  Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed with all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. At dinner, you can have a big baked (or sweet) potato with butter if you’d like, or soup broth on top, but no added salt. Do not eat fruit today.  Remember your water!

Day Three:

Fruits and Vegetables:  Today, have vegetables (no peas, corn, beans, or potato) and fruits (no bananas).  Eat 3 to 4 bowls of soup and drink plenty of water today.

Day Four:

Bananas and Skim Milk: Drink at least 4 glasses of skim milk or unsweetened almond milk and eat up to 8 big, fresh bananas today.  Make a smoothie with the bananas, milk, and a dash of cinnamon.  Eat as much soup as you can, too, and try to drink water.  Bananas and milk day is to help you stop craving sweets.

Day Five:

Beef and Tomatoes: Protein is on the menu today and you can eat up to 20 ounces of lean beef.  Have up to 6 medium tomatoes (slice them, add them to your soup, bake them with some cooked beef inside or enjoy them fresh) or more if you eat cherry tomatoes.  Drink 8-10 glasses of water minimum today.  If you dislike beef, have skinless chicken.  Have at least two servings of soup. You’ll be so full today!

Day Six:

Beef and Vegetables: More protein today!  Have up to 20 ounces of beef or chicken.  Have broiled white fish instead if you prefer, today only.  You should also eat vegetables, especially leafy greens like salad.  Have 2-3 servings of soup.  Do not eat potatoes, beans, peas, or corn.

Day Seven:

Brown Rice & Vegetables: On your last day, eat 3-4 cups of brown rice – not the white, bleached stuff – and 3-4 bowls of soup.  Vegetables should be eaten too, but no peas, corn, beans, or potato.  Today, stuff yourself and finish up that soup.  Drink plenty of water today, 8 cups at least.

Congratulations! By this time, you’ll have completed your 7 Day Cabbage Soup Diet.  If you are just reading this for the first time, you will see you’re eating a lot of soup!

Make sure your soup lasts all week long!   If you’re consuming a lot of the soup, it’s not uncommon to go through 2-3 batches of soup for the week. Are you serious about staying on your diet?  Make sure your soup is tasty by adding a packet of our pre-measured Cabbage Soup Seasonings.

Day 8 and Beyond:

Remember this: The Cabbage Soup Diet is not suitable for long-term weight loss. The Diet is a low-fat, high-fiber diet that will help you get into shape fast but over the long-term you’ll need to exercise and adhere to a healthy and balanced diet. You can repeat the cabbage soup diet periodically, but don’t overdo it!

When you do plan on going on the cabbage soup diet, do yourself a favor and make yourself soup that tastes good to eat. There is nothing worse than throwing out food that you don’t eat because it doesn’t taste great!
